Panera and Aubreys Opening in Oak Ridge

A new, larger Panera Bread will open Sunday morning on South Illinois Avenue, and a new Aubrey’s restaurant will open Monday.

Panera Bread will open its new store Sunday morning, and Aubrey’s restaurant will open Monday, staff members said.

Panera, which already has an Oak Ridge store, is moving into a new, larger restaurant on South Illinois Avenue. The old store is now closed, a staff member said Saturday evening, and the new diner will open at 7 a.m. Sunday.

Aubrey’s is next to the new Panera store and will open at 10:30 a.m. Monday, a staff member said.

The two restaurants are located in a new four-acre shopping center called Woodland Town Center. It’s across from the former Dean Stallings Ford.

Panera sells bagels, bread, sandwiches, and soup, among other things, while Aubrey’s has been described as an upscale family restaurant.

A short stretch of Quincy Avenue at South Illinois Avenue was closed to make way for the development, and a new road has been built through Woodland Town Center. That street won’t be open on the east end—the Woodland neighborhood side—until a new Illinois Avenue traffic signal is operating at the shopping center, possibly in mid-November, the Oak Ridge municipal government said in a recent notice posted on its website.

However, vehicles will be able to get to Panera and Aubrey’s from Illinois Avenue using the new road, which is called Woodland Terrace East.

Unfortunately because CORED has drug butt with the traffic lights, ORPD will be VERY busy righting tickets. To think they took the residents access from Woodland and will continue to keep us from not going out of our way, I for one will be using the new road. However, I am very pleased we now have these two businesses and are looking forward for more to come.
