The Anderson County Chamber of Commerce will host its “Buy Local Cash Mob” on Friday at Clinch River Yarn Co. in Clinton.

Refreshments will be served, and there will be a 20 percent discount on everything in the shop, excluding looms, wheels, and equipment accessories. “Buy Local” Cards are available at the Chamber office and at the cash mob, which is from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Clinch River Yarn Co. at 725 N. Charles Seivers Blvd. in Clinton.

The Clinch River Yarn Co. was established in 2009 by Sandy Adams and her daughter Robin Adams in a small rental space on the Oak Ridge Turnpike, a press release said. In December of 2011, they relocated the business to its current home in a charming 100-year-old house on North Charles G. Seivers Boulevard, the release said. They offer many types of yarn in a wide range of prices, from cashmere and cotton to wools, rayons, silks, and more.

The store also offers a full selection of knitting needles, crochet hooks, and accessories, the press release said. Books, magazines, and knit and crochet patterns are also available, and they have recently begun offering a line of weaving looms and spinning wheels. A monthly schedule of classes are offered ranging from beginners through advanced techniques.

Business hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and Thursday from 10 a.m.-8 p.m.  They are closed Sundays.

The purpose of the Chamber’s “Buy Local” Program is to create awareness of local products and services.

“Monies spent in the community in which you live, work, or play strengthens its overall financial economy,” the release said. “Sales tax dollars go to support all three school systems that may otherwise have to be funded by a new tax increase. The infusion of dollars into our local businesses is a win-win for everyone.”
