Oak Ridge Wildcats LogoThe Wildcat Pride Club of Oak Ridge High School hopes to raise awareness for autism this week as they promote “Hoops for Autism.”

This cause hits home with Lady Wildcats Coach David Scott because his son Daniel was diagnosed with autism at an early age, a press release said.

The club is holding fundraisers this week at the High School with all proceeds from the fundraisers going to the research of autism. Activities have been planned that will culminate on Friday night as the Wildcats host the Central Bobcats in basketball.

Ribbon stickers will be sold at school and at the game prior to the 6 p.m. tip-off.  The Chick-fil-a Cow will be on hand to help cheer on the Wildcats and to promote awareness for the event.

There will also be chances for half-court shots during both the girls’ and boys’ games, with prizes given away for “making the shot.”

It’s also “Beach Night” on Friday night. So, get out your favorite beach attire, come support the Wildcats, and help raise awareness for autism.

The boys’ junior varsity team will play at 4:30 p.m. The girls game starts at 6 p.m., and the boys will follow at 7:30.
