Lady Wildcats have fourth shutout, Hausladen has eight goals in two games

 

The Lady Wildcats have four shutouts in their first four games, and freshman forward Kate Hausladen scored eight goals in two of them.

Oak Ridge beat Karns 3-0 on Thursday. Sophomore midfielder Zoe Van Hook scored two goals, and senior forward Macy Barclay scored one, Lady Wildcats Coach Jeff Trombly said.

He said Oak Ridge had most of the possession on Thursday and controlled most of the game.

“We were…very pleased with the results,” Trombly said.

The girls soccer team is now 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the district.

The Thursday night victory followed a 3-0 win over McMinn County on Tuesday, a 7-0 win over Halls last Thursday, August 20, and a 6-0 win over Anderson County in the season opener on Tuesday, August 18.

“We’re right about where we want to be,” Trombly said.

Hausladen, a left forward, scored all three goals against McMinn County on Tuesday, Trombly said. She scored five of the seven last week against Halls. That made eight goals for her in two games.

Trombly said Hausladen is the top player on the Lady Wildcats team in terms of fitness.

“She’s a talented player,” the coach said.

But she suffered a bruised back on Tuesday. She played Thursday but didn’t play the whole match, Trombly said.

He said another very talented freshman, winger Valerie Carter, has a sprained ankle and will be out about a week.

The Lady Wildcats play another district game at Central on Tuesday and play West at home on Thursday. They travel to upper East Tennessee to play in the Science Hill tournament starting with a Friday night game against Jefferson County. The team will have five games in five days, an endurance test, Trombly said.
